(SomaliNet)At least eight soldiers were killed and two others wounded by a suicide attack in the South Waziristan region of Pakistan.
According to a source, the suicide bomber drove a truck filled with explosives into a customs post on the border with Afghanistan.
The area is known as a stronghold for militants linked to al-Qaeda and the Taliban. The attack follows a Taliban threat to mount new terrorist actions in response to continuing US air attacks on positions held by rebel movements in Pakistan.
Last week, Pakistan authorities told the US it would no longer tolerate further breaches of its air space or territory.
Washington has ignored the comments. It says the attacks it mounts from Afghanistan into Pakistan are necessary to protect its own troops.-RNW
