What Makes You Glad You Are A Woman...?
Firefly posted a very depressing and very real image of womanhood in a quote in one of the threads here. I want to know what you find positive about being a woman. Please feel free to state whatever you like.

- We havent got the option to pee standing up, its like our bodies were made to make us feel civilised
- The courts are on our side
- We can wear trouser and dresses/skirts
- We're closer to nature
I'm bored now, but I could go on and on

Woooow how lame nayaa
! For a feminist you couldve come up with more than our urethra's positioning and fashion. The other two are dubious, the courts usually hate women (they rarely prosecute rapists and ask women the demeaning questions, men are more likely to get a lighter sentence for murdering a partner is an act of 'passion', whereas with a woman its always considered calculated/pre meditated etc etc)....What makes you close to nature? What do you mean by that?

Re: What Makes You Glad You Are A Woman...?
When I was 8 I actually joined the boys' side when we were debating "It's better to be a boy than a girl" initially it was because I felt sorry for them since they were losing so badly but then for years after, I still thought it would be better to be a boy because it would have made me stronger and I could go to parties and stay out with friends without hooyo asking so many questions (I was a bit of a tomboy) . All those reasons were childish though and I've grown to appreciate the female being.
There are quite a few reasons including the overall prettiness, beauty and elegance of females that make me glad to be a woman but these are all generally superficial. The true beauty of being a woman, I think, is the power that comes with it. Despite being taught now that we have natural limitations to our physical strength that never stopped women from carrying water for miles or setting up huts. Despite the bias and discrimination in industry we still have female CEOs, despite the conflict of family and career we still have many women who balance the two beautifully. It is a man's world because at the end of the day Adam was created first however his achilles' heel and the overall weakness of man lies in women. We don't have that problem and although we're accussed of being emotional I enjoy being able to feel every emotion that my heart and brain are capable of producing and not think that it makes me gay or that I have to hide it from myself or my friends, infact it just makes us more versatile. I can't speak for all women but I feel that being female has added a lot more shades of colour to my life and I can't imagine not having faced the brick walls that I have because it's made me a much more mature and stronger individual. I don't mean the strength that makes one want to carry all the shopping in both hands at once to come across as strong even though they pulled a muscle but the strength that makes one able to go back for each bag caring more about having paid for everything in the bag than the audience because I already know who I'm competing against and that's both the society that makes us feel like we have to depend on a man for everything and the one that teaches us that we should also carry all the bags in one go.

Without doubt my 'active-overworked-always'charged-multi-reflective' brain. No doubt, only ladies have this kind of brain.
I simply don't think one-way or one-road. I don't even know if this positive.
Other then that, I love been a woman. I thank Allah swt for everything, and for making me a woman. If there was a colour for women, it would definitely be 'rainbow' If women were to be a race, we'd be an amalgamation-of-races. Simple to put it; diversification thats what we are.
In other words, I would be so boreeeeeeeeeeeeed if I was a man. Zzzzzzz!

Re: What Makes You Glad You Are A Woman...?
BV that was beautiful mashaAllah, great analogy too!
I do that as well, the shopping bit...except one day when I felt something moving in my back and asked a group of boys for help, they took it to my door mashaAllah and I realised that strength is also knowing when to ask for help. I really liked that you put everything in to perspective, I mean I personally tend to focus on the things we dont have yet because I dont think we should be duped into settling for what we have achieved so far as a sex, I think we can go further (within Allah's limits, not the Western one's)...But I rarely think of the past achievements...we do have female CEO's and other successful women in male dominated areas.
Westlandan...do you not sometimes wish we were physically stronger? I do...I hate feeling helpless because of biology and not something I can do something about. I know, I sound like a dyke western feminist here, I am grateful for the body Allah swt gave me...but I dont like the idea that men can intimidate women with physical strength. Pregnancy is apparently something some men feeling really jealous of, because they want to bond with the child too lol Hav eyou seen the men who get sympathy pain and even those who wear pregnancy suits
Naliaa - What if your not charming?
warsan - so youre saying that women have more of an ambidextrous brain?
Mad May- Maybe I was a little harsh, rough morning
Have you seen the ShePee
