Re: Business minded people help
Aliyah, Some little family success we have done that might be easy for your family to imitate our efforts are: Try to raise a large sum of funds from the whole family. Each one of you must contribute, at least 20K or more. Invest that money in building Hotels or mini Mansion at peaceful cities in Somalia like Bosaaso. The mini mansion can be rented out to International NGOs or Subsidiary bodies of the U.N . For instance, my aunt earns $15,000 per month from her Big house's fixed income in Bosaaso. That is a lot of money in Somalia. Another Idea I can think of is to buy a share of a Networking Supply line from China, Dubai, and then try to find a Niche market for whatever you want to import in Somalia, especially look for something that most people would easily adopt to its introduction phase. It must be unique service or product that can sustain increased demands for 10 to 15 years.
Be openminded and engage in some action. Our family goal was to meet the needs of our extended family in Somalia because this time they would have a stream of cash flow coming in for them, and We in turn would save the money we keep sending them and invest in some other areas. Keep this cycle on.

I am planning to set up some of my relations bak home in business, instead of sending remmitance money to one relative after another I have been thinking for a long time to try to set them up in a little business that can sustain some of my extended family and maybe with a bit of luck profit me. The idea my cousins prefer is a little shop, but I work full-time so that would be too labour intensive for me sourcing products and exporting thats long. I am really looking for ideas or anything that has worked for your fam, sending remmitance is not only a drain on my personal finances but it stifles the economy by making people dependent and less industrious. I want to invest as little money as possiblle maximum 5 thousand, and it has to be something that does not involve too much of my time. Any ideas people?
You aren't serious. Any business venture regardless of size requires extensive research and alot of time. If you aren't committed to it, it will fail.
Aliyah,
your question is not simple one. You didn't give us a lot of details. For instance, the expericences of the family members who will run the business, their ambitions and their creditibility to run that business.
However, to give my two cents If I were in your shoes I would have asked myself If all I want is to get these monkeys off my back or if I really believe in my folks and think they can run profitable business and both you can benefit from.
To get monkey off your back scenario, is where you don't expect anything from the business and all you want is your family to leave you alone by not asking you money remittence in the future. If that is the case, then send 5k and make sure you are clear on that these money is a loan. But then deep down in your heart please note all you saying is "leave me the heck alone to run my little life you modafockers". In this case, put the burdon on them of finding the nature of business and all the detail. Any business is good for you since you don't give rat's ass if it is successful or not!.
However, in the event you genuinely believe that your folks are good folks and you both can benefit from the business if you invest some money in them, 5k is too little too late!. You need to busty your ass and make money, girl!.
The first choice worked for me!. I put my folks a lot of burdon. The ball is on their courts. They are struggling and working their ass off and I am loving it!.

Microenterprise
A microenterprise is a type of small business. A microenterprise is defined as a business having 5 or fewer employees and a seed capital of not more than $35,000. Typically, microenterprises have no access to the commercial banking sector. Microfinance institutions have become common sources of funding for microenterprises, particularly in the Third World. Persons who found a microenterprise are usually referred to as entrepreneurs.
