The GOP is using this to gain votes, their MO is fear and when you put fear into people they don't think rationally.Newhargeisagirl wrote:shirib,
Everyone seems to be missing the point on this issue of the Islamic center being built so close to Ground Zero. Most Americans, I think, don't object to the building of an Islamic center...it's the LOCATION of the center to which some object. Building a center devoted to the same religion espoused by the extremists who committed such atrocities is a slap in the face to all those who died and all those who survive them. Now I am not saying they are right, but it is certainly understandableall this fiasco would go away if they choose another location in my view
jsut saying !!
ps, I dont know about you, but every poll that I have seen shows the Dems loosing big time in midterm elections so to say it is the GOP who doesnt have anything to run in the election is NOT TRUE
And the reasoning of not putting the Center because its the same religion as the extremists is one of the stupidest arguments I have ever seen. And it is appalling that people overlook and dehumanize the Muslims who actually died in the World Trade Center and the Muslims who were apart of the first responders who risked their lives to save people on 9/11//2001.
There also is a Masjid closer to Ground Zero, thats been there since the 1970s. Friday Prayers were also conducted in the World Trade Center.

Where is the controversy over that?
Also, the Center being built, will be a LEED Certified building, meaning it will be a Green Building.
