taking up a loan for the meher is not a good idea . Her family need to stay out of this, its her decision and i think if you talk some sense into her she might accept a reasonable amount you are able to pay. And if you are completely broke, then be honest with her (I hope this aint the case coz being broke and marriage dont mix very well) .
