Re: Differences in dhaqan?
Somalis have no Dhaqan at all. Those who come to America, they become Americanized within 2 years and everything about them change. Those who are in the carabaha, they become carab within a month. I have even seen Somali girls trying to be Indians in Minneapolis. They dress up in a little tight surweel and they expose dabo weyn. Wallahi foolxumo. Aniga the only dhaqan I like is the Pakistani dhaqan which marriage is too cheap.

Re: Differences in dhaqan?
that is slight varations of the same culture. it is nothing new. Reer North and Reer South have even different dialects.
you guys say suuli we say musqusha. You guys say gaari and we say baabuur
You can find the same varations of the same culture pretty much in every country.

Re: Differences in dhaqan?
People making generalisations about the 'North' and 'South' without taking into account how diverse different regions of the 'South' are.
Banadir Dhaqan is completely different to Mudug Dhaqan.
The Raxanweyn have their own thing going on and the Digil too.
The Mareexans in Gedo and Abgaals in S/Dhexe have their cultural differences despite both being 'Southerners'.
OP, do not base your ideas on the encounters that you have had with Southerners in the diaspora as many of them do not have parents that are directly from the provinces. For instance, I am Reer Mudug by blood but my paternal Great Grandfather (AUN) emigrated South during the Darawish wars.

Re: Differences in dhaqan?
Zumaale, wallahi I might sound dumb, actually I know I will but all I know of the South is Xamar. So maybe that's the problem.
Banaadir, iyo Gedo etc dhinaca ay kaga yaalan Konfuurta maba garanayo, let alone meeting dadki xagaa dagan and seeing what dhaqankooda is like so maybe my views are due to some ignorance.

Elaborate please. I do not want to be psychoanalysed on the main so PM me baby. I promise to keep it PG.

Re: Differences in dhaqan?
It is fine walal. A lot of Reer Waqooyi youth (Dhullos/Warsans excluded) have this assumption that Xamar starts when you go past L.A.Inaayah wrote:Zumaale, wallahi I might sound dumb, actually I know I will but all I know of the South is Xamar. So maybe that's the problem.
