ok. first, we need to define what is an indepedent somali woman? does it mean she has her own place (mostly subsidised government dwellings)? when she is in school, she lives with her parents and lives off from the proceeds of student loans and other government vouchers. bear that in mind and let me rephrase it. most independent somali females become single moms because most somali girls marry when they are teenagers or in their early 20's and immediately start a family. they abandon their education and will have no qualifications to fall back on. in 5 years of marriage, they have 3 or 4 kids. most zoomali marriages fail within the first 5 years of marriages. you have a single mom with many very young kids who left school at a young age. how can she become an independent woman when she have no qualifications nor a wealthy family to support her?
