The historical Negash town of Ethiopia is famous for being the site of the first hajj when the first muslims persecuted by Mecca clans found safe refugee in Ethiopia. If it wasn't for these refugees, Islam would not exist today. When Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) told his followers to find shelter in northern Ethiopia(then labeled Abyssinia) the Ethiopian kings of the era protected the Muslim refugees just like Ethiopian leaders helped Somalis who fled Somalia because of the civil wars.
Anyway, later, you can find Quran Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) decree to all muslims ordering them to NEVER wage jihad on Ethiopia. This order by Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) has been obeyed by many but it is recently dis-obeyed by the Al -Shabab.
Some people in the ICU have dis-owned the Jihad call on Ethiopia because obeying strict Shar'ia law would indicate that all Al-Shabab and other armed groups who waged jihad in Ethiopia are SINNERS. However, some ICU anti-Islam followers and other somalis have disobeyed Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) and the Quran. Their sins have become endless. They believe they are greater than Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) or they think they know more than him.

Other holy cities include HARAR, the 4th holiest muslim city in the World!! Negash, Harar, the muslim city of Jimma and many others cities.
