Some Advice to Uni Students.

Post by Warsan_Star_Muslimah »

Asalaamu alikum UK folks,

I would advice you lot to do Internship for a year, or during the summer holidays. Maybe some voluntary work, or any other form of job, do this in between the degree. So when you finish it looks good in your CV inshallah. Remember to do something that involves with your DEGREE.

APPLY now!

Assalaamu alaikum wr wb sis,

Good advice. Having studied International relations at uni i can offically say it was a waste of 3 years. Any1 looking to go to uni i'd advise you not to go anywhere near useless subjects like;

Sociology
Politics
History
International Relations
and Criminology

to name but a few. Unless you want to go into teaching then you can do a PGCE. Laakin waloyaal DONT WASTE UR TIME AND MONEY DOING DEAD END DEGREES wa khasaro foqol khasaro.

I cant turn back time unfortunetly, it was qadar Allah.
But like the sister is saying do something worthwhile that ur actually gonna get a job in at the end of it. Oh yea and avoid student loans i know its tempting but u wont be laughing when u got 20k debts and no job at the end of it.

Sorry if i offended any1 doing those subjects. But the truth had to be said.

Wish u all the best with ur UCAS applications

Sis,

I've already chosen those 'dead end' degrees

This is why inshallah I will try my best to invest in an internship, also next year were being offered to do a government project, and inshallah I'm hoping this will boost my CV once I finish university.

they are not dead degrees sister the thing is you need to know what career is applicable to your degree.
International relatins is good as there are transferable skills you learned that can be flexible and applicable to various roles whether HR, social services, working in the public service indutry or persuing to become a solicitor.
Criminology too as you can work in Auditing in Finacial Services etc.
Its good You have a degree the thing you need to do is to climb a ladder from the bottom not trying to Jump to reach the top.

I had a close relative that once graduated with an IT degree and could not get a job he did 2 yrs casual work , people used to diss him for having wasted years in Uni while they still did the same job, in the End he paid close to £5000 on an IT course dont know whether it is Cisco or A++ and supplimented his degree, the guy got a job with the major financial company today alxamdulillah he is doing fine 8-) he never gave up hope ,'' when the going gets tougher the tougher gets going'' thats the motto

As for my sisters both filsan & Warsan if you guys undertake an internship either helping out in citizens Advice Bureau or an immgiration law firm or indulge doing a volutary in community law firms or even the City Councils consumer based sector or others I forgot to mention I bet you guys would rip the benefits.
