GALKAIO, (RBC Radio) A well organized meeting to discuss on security issues n the Somali central town of Galkaio opens today on Monday, as different parts of the society [participates, RBC Radio reports.
The meeting which is sponsored by KAALO organization, a local NGO based in Puntland was amid to discuss the security problems and as well as the safety of civilians.
The RBC’s Awil Mahammud says the meeting comes after simultaneous violence occurred in the town which engulfed several people and wounded others and the town’s administration was tackling to solve the security problems.
Ahmed Ali Salad, the governor of Mudug region spoke at the opening of the meeting described Galkaio as “peace hub” saying many of the Somali IDPs live since 1991.
The governor advised the participants to keep law and order and always collaborate with the security agencies in order to tight the stability and prevent possible crimes.
Said Adam Abdi, widely known as “Wayel” of KAALO organization had announced forming local committee containing twenty persons to launch an awareness campaign towards security.
Nearly one hundred persons including traditional elders, women, religious men and the media participated at the opening of the one-day meeting which at the end to focus on solution of this issue, according to KAALO organization officers.
Galkaio, which is the central Somalia, was facing increasing violence which remained the city since 1990s.
