Voltage,

Its basically about this guy who works for a multinational that builds electric projects all over the developing world in the 50-80s. The countries chosen have mineral wealths. His goal is to get these nations indebted to his company and therefore would write rosey recommendations justifying these infrastructure expenditures. Once these nations become indebted to Corporations based in the West, their governments become beholden to Western interests. He uses the example of Iran, Saudi Arabia, Ecuador and Indonesia where he started his career.

Its a really good book. I suggest you download it via your public library.

Economic Hit man is must read book!.

I agree AW 's brief description. However, AW left out good part. The Multi-national corp is IMF and World Bank.

In other words, it is how IMF and World Bank put 3rd World countries into debt. And after these poor countries couldn't pay back the debt, Uncle Sam and West politically manipulate these poor countries (such as regime or black mail their leaders).
Sometimes CIA directly assisinates some goverment leaders.

Again it is must read. The author was an economist who used to make false recommendation by making an estimate of GDP grown. He would say if IMF and World bank invested country X's infrustructure, the X country's GDP will grow such ...%.

SomeGuy,

Thanks for adding it in.

I found the part about the Saudi alliance with the American corporate interests to be fascinating.
