There is no snow where I live & can't tell you anything but as you said if it was due to snow I think there might be a way to go around this that, may be, each party has to fix their own damage. Just ask around & you might find a way.

Re: have you ever been in accident without insurance?
You're totally screwed.
As strange as it might sound, if the accident was indeed a "no-fault", you might still have to end up paying for damages to the drivers car since you have no insurance. The guys insurance company might refuse to pay for the damages on the drivers car and might order you to pay. You can of course ignore them but you will end up in court after the insurance company sues you and the judge will rule in their favor.
And in almost all states/provinces (considering if you are in either the US or Canada), you do not have the legal right to sue them for damages since you were uninsured at the time; counter-suing them is not an option.
To be blunt, be prepared to pay for the damages that was caused on the driver's car. I know a case where this individual who had to pay $13,000 in damages (unbelievable I know) after a woman t-boned him at a busy intersection (wasn't his fault at all). He had to pay due to being uninsured and "lack of evidence" (even though the police report said it was a no-fault).
Source of knowledge: My co-op term at State Farm
This is what happens when people do not have car insurance. Lesson: GET INSURANCE

Re: have you ever been in accident without insurance?
What I've not asked before and would like to find out is, were both vehicles moving when the accident happened? If that's the case I don't how it can be one particular person's fault.
But if the other person's car was parked & you hit it then may be you're screwed.
PS: Insurance companies in North America must be big rip-offs. Here there's a third part insurance that covers other things & nothing to do with cars and that's compulsory as you have to pay it with the registration. The normal third part insurance that covers damages to other cars or the full insurance here are not compulsory.
Have been driving without insurance in the last 5 years and AlhamduLilaj didn't have any issues. Why aan lacagta bilaash ugu siinaa doofaarta tuugada ah!

I don't know what you mean but Australian road rules = British ones.
Waxaan ka hadlaayay his point that the accident was due to snow dee. What if they were both moving, slid and hit each other? Whose fault is it in that way since both vehicles lost control due to the snow?

and no one is at fault since it was snowing and icy.
