A great movie looking at some of the terrible crimes of the Algeirain fight for independence in their capitol in the 60's. It will make you hate the french.

one of my all time faves. probably the best colonial resistance film out there. the film even uses some of the actual rebels as actors

if they had tried any of that stuff today though (using bombs) they would have been dubbed terrorists real quick.

herdon lol @ using the actual rebels smh but bro, I thought they were terrorists and their methods extreme. I even saw somewhere that they were influenced by a radical french philospher who believed that extreme, shocking, bloody methods were the best for something. Ironic how it was used against the french themselves.

Its interesting to note that the film director for the Battle of Algiers was a communist, and you can see an attempt to give women a greater role in the "resistance" depicted in the movie than what actually transpired historically in the lead upto independence.
