SOMALILAND RENEWABLE ENERGY

Post by theyuusuf143 »

Hargergeisa gets five-turbine pilot windfarm with an installed capacity of 100kW. the airport needs less than 17kw and the rest will be supplied to the local residents. somaliland energy companies has already started similar projects in burao and berbera, hopefully berbera first wind farm (60kw) will be opretional in few weeks too.

Imagine if 100 wind turbines were made instead of 5

TBH any mechanical and electrical engineering faculty in the world can produce these. We should be producing and installing these things our selves. What do they teach in Amoud and Hargeisa university?

^^ i don't think you actually realize how 'backward' Somalia is ? 90% of the population still use felled 'trees' to cook their food.
This is a good development for Somalia.

There is currently a project under way in Djibouti which is a geothermal energy development that will guarantee 46% of electricity production.
Much better than other energy source.

The farm will consist of 54 wind
turbines with a capacity of 1.67 MW
each, and 30 with a capacity of 1 MW.
Construction is being undertaken by
the French company Vergnet SA at
cost of nearly $300 million, with the
loan guaranteed by French financial
firms.

A further project is the 51 MW Adama
I wind farm, located about 95 km (59
miles) southeast of the capital, and
the only wind power scheme in the
Rift Valley.
The $117 million Adama project is
financed through a loan from the
Export-Import Bank of China and
being undertaken by the Chinese
companies CGCOC Joint Venture and
Hydro China.
The wind farm was
slated to be commissioned by June
2012 but is now reportedly due to be
finished this month.

Atleast we are not heavily in debt as ethiopia, we are very lucky because although we are poor and need energy development i dont think loan is good at all, thabks god WE ARE DEBT FREE COUNTRY! because of our unrecognized status.

That's because we aren't recognised. If SL magically became recognised, everybody from xirsi gaab to dr gaboose would be putting opening swiss bank accounts. The country is firt poor and is already corrupt imagine we were given actual money I stead of loose change. The day we are recognised will be tbe end of our independence.
