Are they the same as in Christianity? And if not how do they differ?

I know there's a list of major sins in Islam (look them up) but as far as I'm aware, they're effectual transgressions as opposed to mere natural inclinations without practice. By the way, I could be wrong but I don't think the seven deadly sins are inscribed in holy writ or central to Christian creed. They were classified as principal vices in Christian culture by some monks and made famous by Dante's Divine Comedy.
