As a person who believes in equal rights( i would'nt call my self a feminist or whatever ay dadku dhahaan) those kind of families should be sent to a court. The girl wasn't even qaan gaadh when she was married off to odayga ay sheegaso islaantu smh. Isn't the age of marriage 16+ in the somali countries/regions or is it just sheeko?

P.S am i considered a feminist if i believe in equal rights? Yacni men and women are same to God! God doesn't love a gender more than the other we're all his and we'll return to him one day.
I know every gender is unique in it's own ways but shouldn't we be treated the same in the community we've built together? Shouldn't each gender be respected and treated nicely?

^^LJ sxb I came across this vid on fb today, didn't bother finishing it at all but I got the gist if what she was saying, apart from the incestuous accusations, it's a well known fact that Somali marriages are not the best of marriages and are as dysfunctional af at times So, but to go that far and label us inbreds is preposterous and extremely offensive thing to say. I do not consider myself feminist at all and just because one speaks up for oppressed and victminated somali women does not mean one follows western feminist dogma - We want better from our somali men especially when marriage breaks down - how they seem to abandon their children and disgrace their ex wives is appalling and should be addressed fully. Now we know it is not majority but very large minority of somali men are guilty of it.

The video is very personal and emotive - however - it highlights one of the illness somalis face today and should not be labeled as feminist outburst because it downplayers as women just moaning and just disgracing men over nothing- but it is not- it is painful reality. good on her for speaking up.
