HornCable: Cooking with Filsan, the CEO of Sky Hotel

Post by AwRastaale »

The presenter says Filsan is both the owner and the CEO of Sky Hotel in Hargeisa.

In this cooking show Filsan showcases the Ethiopian food, which she learned over six months by bringing in trainers/instructors from Ethiopia. Her cooking include tibs and doro-wat.

According to the presenter, Ethiopian food is very popular in Hargeisa.

As for the restaurant/hotel

I must say the girl did well for herself. How many females own a hotel/restaurant in the Horn?

Overall I like her practices and food hygiene methods. I can see myself going there. Very clean and unlike Western Xalimos, she wears gloves

I don't really like Ethio food. Your hands smell for hours if not days so does your clothes.

I drink Jebena and eat injera here and there but not crazy about it.

All my friends live kitfo, which is Gurage dish that is raw mixed with spices but I don't think it's healthy.

I'm sure you can catch deadly bacteria such as E. Coli. That's why when they invite me I just go for the stew.

When it comes to food Wanlawein have more variety and interesting sweet pallet.

When I was at school all my Habesha friend brought was injera lunch box. Ante maanta maxa sida, injera 7 days.

I like the chilli especially with danach or boiled potatoes.

Hargeisa needs Asian menu. I like Oriental Hotel. I like two Chinese dishes. I forgot their names. They have Indian but nahhhhh.

I'm very proud of this young woman who owns and runs her own restaurant in a place where women were required to enter a restaurant from same back door as cats.

She made history in my eyes and worthy the share.

To be honest us Somalis have a very small menu to choose from. It's good that the people of Somaliland have a different variety of dishes to choose from. In fact I would welcome more international food. Every country has its traditional food, but at the same time they all sell international food. It's good to give the people somethings to choose from. Because 10 years ago the only food around was Hilib.
