Calmadow is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and blessed places in Somalia. And the Warsangeli are a truly noble, hospitable and courageous people. They are probably the closest clan to the Dhulbahante both in terms of deegaan and intermarriage.

Xaaji Khaliif Aw Axmed the great Dhulbahante poet described them as follows:

Warsangeliga caro daalisee, dibinta ruugaaya,
Dirir hadduu maagana arlada, dubuq ka siinaaya,
Bal dayaay dad buu ii xigaa, waana darafteeye!



Laascaanood, like most Somali cities and towns, needs some serious greening. There is simply no culture of tree planting by individuals in Somalia. People expect someone else to do it, the net result being no one does it.

The culture, landscape, poetry, horses and beauty of Xuddun is truly breathtaking. I hope that this equestrian tradition is actively preserved and promoted. The equestrian tradition once defined the very essence of Dhulbahanteism. It's a very old and strong heritage for which the Dhulbahante were reknowned.
