In the old days people were good, they were grateful, they had culture, they had moral and values. All that is gone now

Northern Somalis generosity was a positive thing in the past but now its bad the snakes will bite you trust me

I think most folk recognise dependency and entitlement culture of the folks back home.
However, it's your duty to help out those in a worse condition than yourself. It doesn't have to be a large amount of money, certainly not your entire salary.
A few hundred bucks goes a long way.
Furthermore, you shouldn't be looking for thanks and praise......give for the sake of Allah swt.
