If you ask me, nothing has been solved yet.
1) The supposed agreement is suppose to be ratified by the parliament which does not make sense because the parliament has already voted for a one man one vote elections.
2) Upper House to be elected by the Federal States Parliament which is ludicrous because all we will end up with the same old corrupt men who are good for nothing. Also who will elect the 13 Senators from Banaadir.
I didn’t get time to fully go through the document but this is just another waste of time and resources if your ask me.
The only people who came out with a loss in this meeting is Puntland who thinks Somali government is still transitional and goes running calcaal for international community. What Puntland and all other federal states and this includes the confused qaldaans up north is with each passing time, Somali government strengthens and becomes more legitimate add that once incomes starts rolling from the Oil, things will change and no one care about their bullshit. Better get in line now than regret it later.

The federal states mps electing the senators is probably one of the things which will be rejected and changed by the parliament. There will be tweaks and I also expect the 301 people selecting mps will be increased.Osob101 wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2020 12:55 pm

I'm sorry but Somalia just does not have what it takes to hold a real and direct election as it is a broken failed state torn apart by clanism, extremism and other ills causing decades of civil conflict. Leave the practice of democracy to functioning countries with proper government such as my nation Somaliland

They said, Upper House members will be selected by the regional parliament members. I don’t care to be honest as long as these old corrupt men are out. The upper house is worthless if you ask me and is a waste of money. We need to kick them all out. The average age of a member of that house is 64 years old LOLNomand wrote: Fri Aug 21, 2020 2:28 pmThe federal states mps electing the senators is probably one of the things which will be rejected and changed by the parliament.
