Beled-Hawo(Mareeg)-Ahlu-Sun Waljame’a officials in Beled-Hawo district of Gedo region told they have held 48 Shabab fighters in the heavy battle they and T.F.G forces captured Beled-Hawo city Islamists, official said.

Spokesman of Ahlu-Suna Waljame’a in Gedo region, Sharif A/wahid Sharif Adam said, “We have 48 prisoners from Al-shabab and their dead bodies are laying in the city”.



Sharif A/wahid, spokesman of Ahlu-suna whose forces were part of yesterday clashes with Shabab in Beled-Hawo district close to Kenyan-Somali border, threatened that they will clear Shabab from Gedo region after their forces allied by T.F.G troops captured the city from Shabab who used to control recently.



Mr. Sharif said they have seized 5 armed vehicles from Shabab adding they also heard that Shabab fighters driving one armed vehicle running to Garbaharey district of Gedo region.



Spokesman of Al-shabab for military operation, Sheikh A/asis Abu-Mus’ab told reporters that they have withdrawn from Beled-Hawo for military tactics as Ethiopian soldiers joined the war.



Similarly Kenyan government told it captured 9 Shabab fighters including foreign fighters who were trying to get in Kenyan territory.



This was Shabab’s worst history as it meets setbacks and failures from the war it had with Somali transitional federal government backed the African union peacekeeping forces in Mogadishu and Ahlu-Suna forces in Gedo and Galgudud regions.



Many people say that Al-shabab is the way Islamic courts union destroyed late December in 2006.
