Burco is bigger than Kismaayo!

Kismaayo a city once famed for being the third largest city in Somalia today is smaller than the Burco of 2004, you can be the judge in the those screenshots from Google Earth with both at the same Eye alt 6.79 km.


Kismaayo - A city with port advantage and clan variety ( Marehan, Harti, Cawrmaale, Ogaden, Gaaljecel, Bajuni).

Kismaayo - 2006. As you can see there is hardly many houses in the city and the west and east of it is mostly unhabited bush areas.




Burco - A city that is primarily inhabited by Habar Yoonis and Habar jeclo.

Don't embarass yourself. Burco is not one district of Kismaayo. Kismaayo once you zoom seems to be one of the most densley populated cities in Somalia. Kulahaa "not a lot of houses".

I read the Burco PDF UNhabitat file and the most accepted population estimates according to them is 150,000 which is around the same as Kismayo. Still back in the 80s before the civil war reached the South, Kisimayo use to be the third largest city in Somalia, now its either 4th or 5th largest; Times change, as all the Somalis returned to their tribal peripheral regions.

I dont believe kismaayo is more populated than Burco. That town consist of a lot of old abandoned buildings.

Babygirl- hargeysa being half the size of Mogadishu? that was about 20 years ago but not now. Hargeysa is very big you should pay a visit to Google Earth.

Babygirl the map of Kismaayo is 2006 not 2005 (Imagery date 3/2/2006). But i don't think much changed in that city because it's always under corrupt adminstrations.
