Captain Phillips!

Post by SultanOrder »

So I saw the movie last night along with other somalis who made about 60% of the audience. We had a good time seeing our boys doing it big(though in a negative way), cracked up because of the somali. I remember some white people were mad because they didn't understand what was so funny. A whole dimension of the experience that they didn't even know they were missing out on, and they took it pretty badly. It was a pretty dramatic movie, atleast Tom Hanks acting made it so, but you couldn't get that from the way we were enjoying it. That was pretty much the highlight.
Now for the movie, it was pretty much the "White" "Western" "Civilized" good guy versus the "loud-mouth" "poor" "ravaged" "uncivilized" "Africans". I mean, I thought Stockholm-Syndrom took months to develop, but by the end of the movie I thought Hanks was going to adopt the youngest of the pirates, and start a charity organization to help feed these starvin marvins. Hanks character's character arch reaches it's zenith when he tells the pirates "your not fisherman" in the face of death, which made me laugh because it reminded me of a kid to his parent saying "your not the boss of me". The Somalis were literally shouting and yelling the whole time, no plan, no semblance of hierarchy except the Strongest can push everyone else around.
All in all, it's a typical "Look at how good we are and look at how savage they are, feel good movie".

I give it 6.7/10

P.S. where have you ever heard of Pirates speaking english so good? :lol:

:clap: Fantastic, yet colloquial and authentic review my dear. :stylin: Bravo. I enjoyed it. Somalis are such patriotic people. LOOL These are people who DONT go to the cinema usually-- and now, I dread to go to the theatre because of their mass word of mouth and the ubiquitous Somali burkha integrating with 'xalaal pop corns'! ! Thank God I am not going to the cinema this weekend. I don't want to interrupt their one time going ons, to celebrate these ugly modafackers habar gidirs Pseudo actors. My only wish to Allaah swt is for them NOT TO get more attention. From the way, they are being embraced in the Hollywood circles & the hype of mean, exploiting media,--my heart palpitations can be heard from a mile. My second ONLY fear is if one of them "is" nominated for an Oscar as a typical Hollywood joke. They just want the pleasure to scare, or a freaky mass televised Halloween gift to the poor cadaan people with the face of this particular individual among the fake Minnesotan pirates'. (U all know, which one I am talking about-right?) I am hoping after this lovely communal theatre going ons, the movie will silently and stoutly go into DVD, and we would only hear about them here in some obscure somalinet forum threads in which I will not participate in--of course. And ABOVE ALL, for me, I can go back to the theatre and not a see a single Somali burkha running about confused and noisy and wondering out loud which door they are supposed to enter to watch 'their' movie! :D

Captain Philips, Black Hawk Down, scenes from the Expendables; how many more sticks are you koonfurians giving the West to beat us with?

And then they get happy when they end up in the cinema. Absolute scum!

(It has been established they are Majerteen and Marehan actors)

@PO

I'm looking forward to pirating the movie, such an irony isn't it? A film about piracy being pirated virtually? :lol: Anyway at least it has put Somalis in the spotlight and I don't think too much of it in a bad way because it's not as though the Somalis are painted as enemies of Americans but rather enemies of people who end up in Somali oceans. :stylin:

hyper aka insigne

I highly doubt the reliability of the 'established' sources of their qabil. What is the qabil of the ugliest pirate? MJ or Marehaan? :o

The ugly one with the crooked teeth is MJ. The normal and relatively good looking one is Marehan. :eat:

I almost forgot to mention how Hanks character outsmarted the "dumb" pirates. I mean, it was so blatently obvious, I know a six year old somali kid from Somalia could figure it out. Do they not know there is no race more coniving and suspicious than us?
Basra, you would be frightfully aghast at our protrayal. I would recommend you wait for the DVD.

Also, I recommend you be seated right now so as not to put at risk your delicate constitution, but the head pirate could get an oscar nomination for "Best Supporting Actor".

Marehan don't speak english. Them actors are HG. What a bunch of lowlifes. The real somali pirates (MJs/Dhulos) are tough.
