Somaliland releases 20 khaatumo seeg POW s
The released 20 khaatumoseeg rebel prisoners were cuptered during the last Somaliland army take over of saaxdheer village, the last khaatumo seeg base in Somaliland soil. This is not the first time somaliland released rebel pows, in 2012 Somaliland released upto hundred of former SSC rebels after their leader saleban haglotosiye joined the government. The unrecognized de facto democratic nation is among countries with good human rights records.

I think the Somaliland government is soft.
How could they release these terrorist that completely oppose the existence of somaliland?
They looked them up only for 4 months, what a joke, they should have never arrested them if that was the case.
And releasing these prisoners in not going to make any changes. The separatists militias would be back.
In 2012 somaliland they did the same thing in releasing prisoners, and the militias came back 2 years later.
This is a cheap way of gaining support.
I think these guys should have been given life sentences each, and the government should also find Suldan Abubakar and Ali Khalif Galaydh, and give them life sentences too. Or even the dealth penelty. Somaliland needs to send out a strong messege, to show that we do not give into terror nor do we negotiate with terrorist.
The funny thing is all 3 party leaders would rather gain support from terrorists, rather than protect the safety of its citizens.
Yesterday Wadani leader Abdirahman Cirro mentioned that he would open talks with Galaydh...
I think Somaliland needs to get rid of these soft politicians and elect and Iron man!!!

@togdeer
if you ask your self how come Somaliland army are able to ride on khaatumo seeg any time any where in the heart of dhulbahante country ? The answer is simply politics. Somaliland pays a lot efforts to separate khaatumo seeg armed group from dhulbshante clan.Unlike other east african armies Somaliland army is highly disciplined and they dont do rape, extortion or harass dhulbahante civilians. For that reason normal dhulbahantes do not feel invaded and thats why we dont get diedly hate motivated ambush attacks on our army. The more we threat them good the better for our army too. What happens in battlefields stays in the battlefield !

But if someone commits terrorist activities in your country, and tries to destabilize your nation, when 50,000 people give away their life to liberate it.
Then I think they should face the full justice of the law. These guys have committed murder, the displace thousands of innocent people, from sool. They also committed a number of different terrorism offences. I think Somaliland is sending out the wrong message.

Well this is all about getting the public support. Somaliland is led by former rebel leaders they know rebels thrive in chaos, Persecution and political imprisonments. Many of those people were arrested for their khaatumo advocate which is not big crime in democratic nations like somaliland. I think Somaliland army have good chance to defeat rebels in the battlefeilds we dont need to cupture and hold khaatumos the rebels will use that as a tool to damage our country reputation.

remember folks kahtumo are somalilanders. it is a good deal I think, al galydh has stopped his activities and now knows the reality, khatumo is weak and their leadership is confusing.
also khatumo is a small percentage of dhulos. most dhulos are in Somaliland and some in puntland.
also these kahtumos have it easy though, HJ tribesman have been very patient with them as they're protecting siilanyo's reputation. if they go for it khatumo will automatically call it a government massacre not hj. since siilanyo is head.
so yes I believe khatumo was formed due to the HJ sacrifice of not hitting back at them. but if they continue and siilanyo goes out of office then its big trouble for them.

They don't want war, they lost enough wars and lost a lot of land to HJ.Hodan94 wrote:remember folks kahtumo are somalilanders. it is a good deal I think, al galydh has stopped his activities and now knows the reality, khatumo is weak and their leadership is confusing.

If they start a war, then Buhoodle and Las Anood would end up as HJ settlements.
Remember Balidiig is very close to Buhoodle.
But then again we are civilized people, there is no need for this.

you have take into account the cost of keeping someone in prison and clan dynamics.Togdeer wrote:I think the Somaliland government is soft.
