This Oromo brother is responding in Af-Soomaali to Somali alarmists who are obsessing about the recent influx of Oromo migrants to Somaliland and Somalia. He made some good points.

One thing that confuses me about Somalis is, they are in Nazareth the Capital of Oromo, Adisabab another Oromo City, complain about Kenya, South Africa, Arabs mistreating them or deporting them, They are all over the world including the West, and build community centers, Mosques, work, go to schools, build homes, visits hospitals, travel un harassed. Yet have the audacity to complain about others in their lands? What is with this double standard.

If we want to limit who visits or enters our nations, then we should evacuate all other people's lands & build ours. Then regulate who can enter and who can't, they must apply for a visa and go through a back ground & Health check. Before that you must leave their nations.

Ok i will make a couple of counter points to highlight how this is not fueled by xenophobia but a real social economic concern.

1) First consider the following. Somalia/Somaliland has 80% unemployment, drought , tahrib phenomena of youth dying at sea and other social & economic calamities. How can you expect a country not only recovering from civil strife but also experiencing the afromentioned calamities to accomodate economic migrants?

2)We cannot integrate a huge influx of non-Somalis as we dont have capacity or resources for that. It just doesn't exist especially when we are ourselves are experiencing humanitarian crisis of our own.

3) The influx of Oromo migrants are unregulated leaving huge bolst of undocumented and illegal migrants, nearing a total over 10 thousand undocumented migrants.

4) They are putting pressure on the job market and oromos are demanding them at expense of the locals as well as demanding housing that does not exist.

So as a result thousands of them have become homeless and permanent street dvelers.

According to the Hargeisa Child Protection Network, there are 3,000 to 5,000 homeless youth in the city, most of whom are Oromo migrants from Ethiopia. Around 200 a year complete the voyage through Somaliland and across the Gulf of Aden into Yemen, where they attempt to cross the border to Saudi Arabia and find work; many more don't make it.

5) Following the above info. Who is going to take care of these youth? how are they going to survive in our country? since there is no system or capacity for us to integrate them. Which will possibly result in creation of slums,rural ghettos and increase in crime due to the poor social economic conditions that may befall them in comparison.

Now i expect you people to think rationally instead of thinking emotive. We cannot even have a proper discourse around this topic without constantly deflecting the issue towards Somali refugees in other countries with rhetoric . No one has a problem with having a minority in Somalia or them living with us. That is not the issue. The problem is the unregulated influx creating social & economic strains which if not solved immediately could prove to be disasterous. As it could potentially jeopardize the social cohesion in a country badly in need of unity .

We have every reason to be alarming, when you consider these points.

The benefit of pacifist people is that they survive, out-live and out-breed warrior like people whom always self destruct at one point, the invasion is already rampant in P/land S/land.

In Koonfur their Oromo brethren Raxanweyne are out breeding us in epic proportion, almost 300.000 IDP's in Xamar alone, they dominate every IDP camp and each women has 13/15 children, even in Mudug when I last went there several thousands upon thousands changing the entire demographic's, they are rampant in Gaalkacayo

They now have heavy presence in Bay, Bakool, Jubada Dhexe, Jubada Sare, Lower Shabeele, with many of them claiming to be of oromo origin, which is believable due to their pacifist nature, they are expected to take the PM post in the next election, while other Somali's killing each other off or heading for tahriib.

Kinda hypocritical when you yourself are a refugee in a western country enjoying all the rights the native do yet won't let your closest neighbors who are in dire need in.

Not gonna happen mate, not only will they come and settle but they will also enjoy all the rights natives do, they shall get thier reps in the deegans they live in and also have full representatives in the goverment

Oromos are anything but pacifist. In fact, they are far more warlike than Somalis and that's just the truth.

They have assimilated countless ethnic groups and took over large swathes of Ethiopia from the habashis and others. The Oromo expansion was huge and very violent.

I believe this is why somalis are very suspicious of them.

This is the path to extinction especially when you don't have a strong state that can regulate the influx of immigrants. We're only like 10-15 million and they are 45-50 million.

I believe that they should be dealt with fairly, but we should not be too irresponsible and naive either.
