So, you are crying to be a legal drug dealer. Wake up losers, you are in the west where by one can educate his/her self to the teeth and you are crying to remain in darkness. Oh my Oh my Alaah. Bless those who fought to get rid off this evil leaves. I wish if we can do that in Somaliland too. In a matter of few years, our little kids could go to swim in the beautiful beaches and in no time could go and enjoy the beautiful land scape with full of butter and milk on smooth divided HWYs.Stop this evil branches and spend the money on our people's needs. If they could do in England, it,s also possible in back home.

I wholeheartedly approve any khat ban anywhere.
And *YES* to whoever Hilaac quoted.

“I am selling Khat now in Bristol but I have a branch in London too and next Tuesday I have no business or job,” said one trader.
“They say to me for two years “Get job! Get job! At Jobcentre and the Jobcentre did not help me. When I start my own business now they want to make me unemployed,” shouted another trader angrily.

The estimated cost of Khat in Somalia is $1B a year, the entire remittance income for the entire country, going out to Kenya, Ethiopia and Yemen. The health and social cost is also enormous and is additional.
Imagine that sum used for anything useful!
Somalis need to convert to something they can grow at home.

It's got to be more than that. I read somewhere in SL alone it's $500 Million. That is ridiculous. A country with no running water spend over half a billion on a narcotic plant with no benefits but numerous health hazards.Grant wrote:The estimated cost of Khat in Somalia is $1B a year, the entire remittance income for the entire country, going out to Kenya, Ethiopia and Yemen. If somalis want drugs, let them plant goverment regulated marijuana and tobacco plantations. Anyone who smokes would have to sign a lease before being allowed to do so stating any treatment of adverse effects to health caused by them would make any medical treatment chargeable.

Re: khat ban will cut jobs
To understand the social problem of Khat in Somalia/Somali lands is to think of all the vices in the west such as drink drugs gambling etc and intensify it and Khat is still even more detrimental to Somalis then these 'western' vices when combined.
Don't blame the people blame the government. The people are to stupid to know whats good for them.

Somalis should quit drugs altogether. Imagine what we could be without it.
