Kenya and the US Government planned to launch an offensive inside Somalia to push out al-Shabaab fighters, according to released WikiLeaks cables.
It was also revealed that the US had been aiding Somalia’s transitional federal Government with weapons and money.
According to secret cables US Ambassador Michael Ranneberger met Somalia’s Prime Minister Omar Sharmarke at a Kenyan airport and discussed, among other things, a possible military strike on "terrorist strongholds or their training grounds".
"Sharmarke promised an accounting of the $500,000 provided by the US. He is very grateful for US efforts to supply TFG forces with larger-caliber ammunition and weapons.
"The TFG had subsidised allies in Hiraan and Jowhar, as well as having provided stipends to an unspecified number of al-Shabaab defectors," said Ranneberger.
Frequent piracy
Kenya feared al-Shabaab will begin conducting cross border attacks, and was deploying military forces to positions in eastern and northern parts of the country near the Somali border.
Kenya was also concerned about its nationals, some of whom were of Somali origin who were joining insurgent fighters in Somalia and the frequent piracy in the Indian Ocean.
For these reasons, the TFG and the Government of Kenya were secretly considering an offensive in the Juba region of Somalia, aimed at pushing al-Shabaab out of the key port of Kismayo and neighbouring areas in southern Somalia.
There was some indication vigorous effort by the US and Kenyans may have disrupted efforts by al-Quaeda and the al-Shabaab to work more closely together in the past.
Sharmarke is said to have called Somalia Unit on May 16, this year to urge that the US "take out" if possible, participants in an al-Shabaab-Hisbul Islam conclave near Afgoye.

kenya and us planned to bomb alshabab areas , so what is the solution , we r fighting each other for long with out winner, we really tired this an end game
we dont want peace ,and that is the advantage of our enemy , let us be realistic and find out solution .
if we solve our internal problem then we can solve our relation with the other country.
